What is the meaning of the word ‘Wall’? According to the dictionary: „ … a vertical and compact architectural element which divides and separates one or more territories or space units. “ A good example is of course the Berlin Wall or contemporary ones that are being build at this very moment like between the US & Mexico, Morocco & Melilla, Israel and Gaza. But does a wall always have to be physical? Let’s not forget the invisible ones, those that do not allow us to find work, push us off from our families, homes or education. Those walls that block our paths like selfishness (a wall that keeps us from looking any further then beyond our selves), violence (a wall that destroys our lives and hopes), intolerance and racism (a wall that segregates human beings from one another).

Unfortunately many of us are unable to see these invisible ones.

¿Qué significa la palabra «muro»? Según el diccionario: «Elemento arquitectónico compacto y vertical que divide y separa uno o varios territorios o espacios». Ejemplo de estos muros físicos es el de Berlín, pero también otros muchos que siguen en pie como los de México, Melilla o Gaza. ¿Cuáles son peores: los de alambre y hormigón o los muros invisibles que nos dejan sin trabajo, sin familia, sin hogar, sin educación y sin derechos? Estos muros que no vemos nos cortan el camino sin darnos cuenta: son el egoísmo (pared que nos impide ver más allá de nosotros mismos); la violencia (es el muro que aplasta vidas y esperanzas); la intolerancia y el racismo (enormes fosos que nos separan y distancian de otros seres humanos).

Muchos de nosotros somos ciegos ante estos muros invisibles.

Was bedeutet das Wort ‘Mauer’? Laut Definition: „Architektonisches, kompaktes, vertikales Element das einen oder mehrere Territorien oder Räume teilt und/oder trennt .“ Ein physisches Beispiel ist natürlich die Mauer in Berlin, aber auch bestehende oder im (aus)Bau befindliche wie in Mexiko, Melilla oder Gaza. Aber was ist eigentlich eine Mauer? Ist es immer physisch aus Beton und Stacheldraht oder nicht auch die unsichtbaren die trennen, Menschen ohne Arbeit, Familie, Heim und Versorgung lassen? Und welche sind schlimmer? Es sind diese Unsichtbaren Mauern und uns den Weg versperren ohne das wir es merken: Egoismus (eine Mauer die uns nicht über uns selbst hinwegsehen lässt); die Gewalt (eine Mauer die Leben und Hoffnungen zerdrückt); Intoleranz und Rassismus (eine Mauer die abgrenzt und uns von anderen Menschen trennt)

Zu viele sind leider genau diesen Mauern gegenüber Blind.
